Dear OWA Members,
The Optical Women's Association is now embarking on its 10th year. It's hard to believe nine years ago, a group of women, even then pinnacles of this industry, got together and founded this organization, establishing one mission — To enhance and promote the leadership role of women in the optical industry through networking, education, and peer support. By continuing to provide an outlet of support, networking opportunities, resources, and passion, we are close to 200 members strong today!!
There IS strength in numbers. The greater our membership, the more resources available, the greater the diversity of expertise, and the more beneficial we will be to, most importantly, our members, but also to our sponsors, and to the industry as a whole.
The OWA has some exciting things planned for the upcoming year . . . with the continued support of our sponsors, the sky's the limit. Look for more membership benefits like the Pink magazine subscription. And expanded opportunities to attend POWW (Professional Optical Women's Workshop) events with more local and regional sessions.
I am ecstatic to be a part of this organization, happy to be passionate in supporting women who are trying to better themselves, or move up in their company or within the industry or just want to be associated with strong, successful women at all levels within this industry.
I encourage you to get involved and stay connected with your peers in 2007. Together we are one, we are strong and we are in charge!
