Dear OWA Member,

Ann E. Englert

The Optical Women's Association celebrates fifteen years in 2012 and the association is happy to report the outlook is BRILLIANT! As the OWA evolves, membership grows and our reach expands into new arenas. We are guided by the principles of the founding members, and dedicated to the mission: "to enhance and promote the leadership role of women in the optical industry through networking, education, and peer support."

Recently the board gathered at the annual planning meeting to review the outlook, objectives and needs of the association. (Meet our new and returning board members inside this edition of the newsletter). The laser-focused objective is to reach out, invite, and engage the talent and skill sets of a flourishing membership. As we explore opportunities to develop tools and resources and create new benchmarks for membership benefits, it is the commitment of the OWA to ensure everything we do as an association, with the continued support of our sponsors, adds value to your membership.

The OWA is about YOU, the membership. It's how we work together in this industry and this organization to lead the charge for women making a difference in their company and the industry.

With that in mind, we'll continue in the coming months to provide highlights and profiles on the committees and members. We're enhancing our cross communication with all committees to ensure we are integrating our efforts across the organization. Whether you joined the OWA to network and build your career, or to give back to an industry that mentored you, whatever your skill sets are, we are looking for you to be active in your association. Together, we are the key to creating and developing the OWA's added value to membership.

We want you to share your talents and expertise, your shade of brilliance. It is the leadership and inspiration of great women who've paved the way for us, that urges each of us to take on ideas and tasks that resonate, to continue to build and lead an incredible association of women dedicated to Our Mission — To enhance and promote the leadership role of women in the optical industry through networking, education, and peer support

Thank you for your continued contribution and support of the OWA. We'll do great things together and have some fun too!

Best regards,

Ann E. Englert
