Let’s make something SPARK inside of us this August! Self-care needs to be a priority. As you begin to plan out your month- what motivates you? What reenergizes you? What ignites you? Make a plan, stick to it, and watch yourself transform this month!
With the heaviness of the world around every corner my hope is that we start to protect our mind, body, and spirit. This first comes with what media we decide to consume. If your nightly news watching is starting to keep you up at night- maybe switch to the morning or subscribe to a different daily news source. If social media seems to just be a dumping ground – unfollow certain people or groups, no this doesn’t mean ‘unfriend, but rather to engage on your terms. Did you know your phone has screentime limits and social media limits? Go into your setting and make some adjustments.
Now more than ever it is so important to be intentional about our social, emotional, and spiritual health. I recently stumbled upon the 8 factors of happiness by Duke University. My hope is that you feel inspired by simply one of these:
Let go of suspicion and resentment. Don’t live in the past (focus on what you can do this month)
Don’t waste time and energy fighting things you cannot change
Stay involved with the living world
Resist the urge to withdrawal and become reclusive during stress-fight for your peace
Refuse to indulge in self-pity; when life hands you lemons, make lemonade
Cultivate old fashioned virtues: Love, Compassion, Humor, & Loyalty
Don’t expect too much from yourself – keep realistic goals
Find something bigger than yourself to believe in
Let me know how your journey is going- I would love to CHEER you on!
In this health and wellness corner I like to provide a few tidbits:
O-ne minute mindset: a quote to ponder, an encouraging story, or just some words of wisdom. This is meant to be put somewhere in your calendar that you can look back and use it to set the tone of your week!
W-alk through your month: ideas in which you can fill your calendar with things that will enrich your physical, spiritual, and emotional health
A-im to targets for the month: simple goals to set for your month.
