We recognize and honor individuals who have made significant differences for women in the optical industry. These women are visionaries and are committed to fostering development of the leadership roles of women.

Our Mission

The Star Awards

The star awards are our most impressive awards. Each year the OWA presents awards to individuals who exemplify a passion for promoting the role of women in our industry.

  • Pleiades Award — Each year, our Pleiades Award honors an individual who has shown exceptional support in advancing the leadership role of women in the optical industry.

  • Pyxis Award — The PYXIS Award is presented to a member of the OWA who actively participates in the organization and promotes the OWA throughout the optical industry.

  • Emerging Leader Award — The Emerging Leader Award, created in 2018, is presented to a woman who is a rising star and exemplifies leadership qualities as a new distinctive talent within the optical industry.

The Leadership Scholarship Award

First awarded in 2019, the OWA offers at least two Leadership Scholarships every year to OWA members. These scholarships are to be used for the professional and personal development of each recipient and are funded through the Individual Contributor Program donations. The purpose of the Leadership Scholarship is to provide a professional mentoring opportunity, reward those who have volunteered their time and efforts to help the OWA reach its goals, and to promote the founding principles of the organization: to connect, inspire, and lead future leaders.

Vision Monday's Most Influential Women in Optical

Every year, Vision Monday selects women from hundreds of nominations among its readers to recognize accomplishments across all sectors of the eyecare field and optical industry.

#EBGameChanger Award

This award is given to highly respected optometrists, opticians, and optical retailers who delivered support, guidance and vision to change the eyecare arena this year for good—and usher in positive change!

Grant Awards

OWA members often have the chance to participate in grant programs sponsored by businesses and brands that partner with the OWA to empower women in the optical industry.
