What is your morning routine?

Because I sit most of the day for meetings, I try to get some early cardio in on the treadmill, take a quick shower, and then start my work day. I love listening to podcasts while getting ready for some daily inspiration and learning.

What is your afternoon routine?

Most afternoons are filled with calls and meetings and is the busiest time of day.

How do you make time for yourself during the day? What types of things do you do for yourself?

I try to get out for a quick walk with the dog, weather permitting. I strive to have something healthy to eat mid-day. I am a big fan of the NutriBullet, it makes for a quick lunch — and for me good food = good mood. I really enjoy having the right music on in between meetings too!

What is your evening routine?

I usually cook dinner with my husband most weeknights. Our team works across all time zones, so I usually try to stay on top of emails after dinner. After that I watch a little television or read. I like meditations for sleep just before bed. The 10-15 minutes spent doing this has helped my sleep game!

How do you disconnect from work after hours?

  1. Most recently, we have been working on our house and I love the physical and creative side of making the improvements.
  2. Cleaning and organizing for me is a great stress reliever.
  3. Cooking/baking
  4. Finding a good, binge-worthy show
  5. Walks with my husband and dog — again weather permitting!

What are your tricks for staying organized?

I am always trying to up my game with staying more organized and recently have taken to the Pomodoro method for minimizing distractions and trying to keep focus. I use the Focus Keeper app that allows you to set a timer to support the Pomodoro concept. It helps me work in focused bursts and then allows a short break.

I also do a brain dump at the beginning of each week to capture details of all current short-term and long-term projects. I like pen and paper, so I have a weekly project calendar I make notes all week long and it allows me to look back and move things forward quickly to the next week if there are still open items.

How has your daily routine changed during the pandemic?

I have been a full-time remote employee since 2017 after a move from CA to Michigan. Most of my routine has been somewhat similar, other than the almost monthly travel schedule pre-Covid. I also find Zoom meetings so widely accepted now and it has allowed for some great meetings that would have otherwise required travel or a traditional conference call. I sure miss seeing my colleagues in person and look forward to being together again soon!
