Before the world wakes up, I've already chosen myself.
As a working mom of two boys, I know how hard it can be to find time for ourselves. That said, there are a few simple habits that can truly transform your mornings. Today, I want to share what helps me wake up every day for my 5:00 A.M. workout.
Stop sabotaging your morning the night before. If you go to bed scrolling, overstimulated, or too late, the battle is already lost. Set a firm cutoff — ideally 60–90 minutes before bedtime — to wind down and prepare your body and mind for rest.
Remove decision‑making from the morning. Lay out your workout clothes, prep breakfast, and know exactly what you'll do when you wake up. The fewer decisions you have to make, the easier it is to follow through.
Don't negotiate with yourself when the alarm goes off. The moment you think, "Just five more minutes," you’ve already lost. Alarm = feet on the floor. I repeat to myself: "I am doing this for me."
Give your mornings a purpose, not just a task. For me, waking up early isn't only about working out — it's about having uninterrupted time to focus, reflect, and invest in myself before the day gets busy.
Make it fun and reward yourself. Add something you enjoy, whether it's your favorite playlist, a podcast, or even eye patches you love. Small rewards remind you why it's worth showing up and make it easier not to hesitate.
You don't wake up early because it's easy; you wake up early because you're choosing yourself.
