Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino shares his struggles with the party scene through his younger years before, during, and after Jersey Shore on MTV.
While Mike looked like he had it all – fame, fortune, girls, and abs that could stop traffic – on the inside he was spiraling in pursuit of his next fix.
In a captivating tale about life, loss, love, and ultimately sacrifice, Mike shows readers that the only way someone can get clean is for themselves. Mike had so many people who loved him, wanted to be around him, and frankly wanted to be him, that he often found himself in his own way. In fact, he was so oblivious to things happening around him that it ultimately landed him in prison after he found sobriety.
Finally after an experience that scared him to his core, he made the decision to get
sober for himself and for his future. He now helps others overcome addiction, gives
motivational speeches to people in prison, and is a positive force to all who know him and watch him in the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation series.
He and his beautiful wife and cheerleader Lauren now have 3 kids in a gorgeous house in New Jersey, proving that “The Situation” could now be renamed “The Inspiration.”
Takeaways
As a long-time Jersey Shore fan, this book was a fun read. Mike shares experiences
from the original show, including many escape attempts and how money and access to literally anything can lead people down a dark path. Luckily for Mike, at the end of his dark path was his family, his Jersey Shore roommates, and his wife Lauren.
While many people are impacted by the dark side of fame, Mike has risen above and proved there can be a beautiful, fulfilling life after addiction. In fact, it was the spin off Jersey Shore: Family Vacation that ended up saving him financially. You may not love Jersey Shore, but I’m sure you’ll appreciate his journey and how thankful he is to have made it out alive.
