Flowers & Decoupage on Glass Craft

Posted By

Holly Martin

Decoupage on glass is a great anytime of year activity, but you can customize the type of flowers and materials you to fit the season.

Use colorful flowers for a summer look, red and orange for fall, etc. When you’re done, use as a vase or put a candle in the bottom to illuminate the vase and the area surrounding it.

Steps

  1. Clean your glass container thoroughly with soap and water, inside and out. You can only spot clean the outside after the decoupage dries.

  2. Dry thoroughly with towel or let air dry completely before proceeding.

  3. Gather your dried flowers or leaves and choose the ones you want to cluster for each side of the container.

  4. As you apply each piece, apply modge podge gloss over each one individually with the foam brush.

    1. You should apply the modge podge gloss across the flowers in longer strokes. However, if the flower or leaf isn’t completely flat, you may have to dab the modge podge gloss over the item to make it secure.

    2. Ensure when you pick up the container that the flowers stay on. The gloss must be thick enough to hold, but not too thick that it runs.

  5. Apply the flowers and leaves in layers. If you want leaves behind the flowers, put the leaves on first with a thin layer of paint and let dry.

  6. If necessary to seal everything, you can put another layer of modge podge gloss on with the foam brush after you’re done applying.

  7. Let dry thoroughly before moving or putting anything inside.
