Dear OWA Members,
If you are like me, you cheered on New Year's Eve to toast the end of 2020 and welcomed with open arms the beginning of 2021 -- only to find that not much changed in the new year. One thing is clear, however, and that is that hope abounds everywhere I look. Hope that with masking, social distancing, and vaccinations, COVID should move to our rearview soon and with spring around the corner, I'm feeling uplifted and optimistic.
With International Women's Day upon us, I am reminded why I love the OWA and how inspired I am by the women in our industry and how we come together to celebrate one another's accomplishments. This year's theme of International Women's Day (IWD) is "Choose to Challenge", recognizing and honoring women's achievements. In honor of this special day, the OWA will be hosting a virtual event on March 10 at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET, #ChoosetoChallenge Through Connection, featuring keynote speaker Erin O'Malley. Using her "Connection Framework," Erin will highlight what happens to our authority when we, as women, overuse the word "sorry." She teaches how to practice and embrace receiving praise from others, and emphasizes why OWA's core values of connect, lead, and inspire are just what we need to take on the #choosetochallenge theme! I hope you'll join me on March 10. Visit opticalwomen.com to register.
Whether you can join us on March 10 or not, please visit the website and take advantage of all the OWA has to offer. These programs are tailor-made for you at the thoughtful hands of our committee members who share passion and commitment in supporting other women. Please check us out on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn and join me on International Women's Day and in an outlook of optimism and hope for a brighter 2021!
Best,
Robyn Crimmins
OWA President
