No longer able to host in-person events this year, the OWA needed a new vision for a way to connect with other women in the optical industry.
OWA member Beverly Bianes, O.D., created the OWA Coffee Break regional virtual event series as a way to continue to connect, reenergize, and support other women as we deal with the changes to our lives and work with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first virtual event was focused in California in May, with seven coffee breaks hosted to date throughout the U.S. in California, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Texas, Ohio, as well as in Canada. By offering women a break from their day, these events have provided a forum to connect with others to share ideas, have meaningful conversations, and create a network of support.
Keep an eye out as the OWA works to plan more virtual events for fall, including a new dimension to our 'Coffee Breaks' hosted by our sponsor companies through their sponsor ambassador. This will offer senior executives and attendees the opportunity to connect as they were able to in our traditional live events.
