In the spring, the OWA launched a new digital ambassador program to grow our social media presence. We are profiling each of the five influencers in the eyecare industry with whom we are partnering. In May, we introduced you to Jennifer Lyerly, O.D. This month, we're introducing you to another one — Arian Fartash, O.D. She is an optometrist who also founded the GlamOptometrist blog, GlamOptometrist social media management company, and the GlamBaby line of chic children's sunglasses.
As one of the first social media influencers in the eye care industry, Dr. Fartash helped changed the way people view optometry, putting the focus on eyewear being hip and fashionable rather than just a medical necessity. Through her blog, she promotes all things eyes, eye care, and eyewear. Through her media management company, she helps ECPs gain social media exposure with tools like total social media takeovers and monthly social media photos. And through her children's eyewear line, she provides parents with stylish and safe — 100% UV protection — sunnies for their littles (available now at Nordstrom and wholesale).
Dr. Fartash says social media has drastically changed consumers' views of the eyecare industry in the nine years since she joined it. While using her platforms to grow the profession, she also looks for inspiration, support, and ideas from other OWA members and OWA social media posts. In fact, she says an OWA post last summer encouraged her to book a meditation day — a much-needed self-care activity for this busy mom.
Look for Dr. Fartash at a future OWA event this fall. You can also follow her on Pinterest and Instagram. While you're on Instagram, Dr. Fartash suggests following these other businesswomen she looks up to on social media:
