It has been a privilege and honor to serve as your President of the Optical Women's Association over the past year and a half. Together, we have accomplished so much and continue to accelerate our vision of helping women reach their full potential through connecting, inspiring, and leading. Notably, we have succeeded at embracing remote members through programs such as Tuesday Talks, local Regional Events, and broadcasting live events through Periscope. These initiatives, in addition to our valued member benefits, have helped us achieve a new milestone of over 700 members.
Three newly recruited board members will round out our board composition and ensure the organization continues to innovatively forge ahead. I am grateful for our talented board and for the committees who turn our vision into action.
It was perfect timing in my career to step up my efforts of giving back and volunteering to such a great cause. I hope each of you will consider how your strengths can translate into a leadership role within the OWA. It was extremely rewarding and something I will cherish forever. As Immediate Past President, I will remain on the OWA Board for two years to ensure a smooth transition of leadership to Tiara Claxton, our new President of the OWA. Tiara is positioned to amplify our message and continue to develop new and exciting ways for OWA members to connect, inspire, and lead over the coming two years.
Warm Regards,
Maureen Cavanagh
OWA Immediate Past President
