The annual Star Awards Ceremony is a favorite among OWA members. And this year's event did not disappoint! It was held in the beautiful Estrela Penthouse at Le Parker Meridien Hotel in Manhattan. "Estrela" means "Star" in the Old Portuguese language. Coincidence? Not a chance!

Corrine McCormack was both funny and sincere as she accepted the Pinnacle Award for her outstanding achievements in the optical industry. This award was created to commemorate the OWA's 20th anniversary. It was only fitting that it be presented by Marge Axelrad, a founding member of the OWA. (Marge is a "star" in her own right as she was named Prevent Blindness America's "Person of Vision for 2017".)
Dr. Lorie Lippiatt was charming and humble as she accepted the Pyxis Award (named for the constellation "Compass") for her tireless efforts to promote the OWA through professional development.
Kate Renwick-Espinosa shone as she received the Pleiades Award (named for the constellation "The Seven Sisters") for her efforts in advancing leadership roles for women in our industry. She reminded us to be "swift, kind and wise".
Shining awards, sparkling wine and stellar honorees all came together for a very special evening, made possible by the evening's sponsors VSP Global and Marchon.
