(OWA News)

Maureen, what do you think has been the biggest catalyst for success of the OWA?

Our success is the result of proper planning and execution of programs which will allow the OWA to retain and attract new members. Our focus for this year was to amplify our efforts to engage remote members, and provide an enhanced value to our loyal members.

What are the goals for the OWA in 2017?

Our planning session for 2017 was very productive and insightful. While we are embarking on our 20th Anniversary and celebrating our success over the years, there is still so much to be done to amplify our brand and continue to attract women throughout the industry who can benefit from our membership. The goals we established are as follows:

  1. Celebrate our OWA 20th Anniversary with spectacular events at Vision Expo
  2. Continue to attract new members by launching new programs
  3. Engage remote members
  4. Elevate communication, social media and storytelling
  5. Initiate new sponsorships and partnerships
  6. Assess Governance and Board Composition

Can you share with us any upcoming improvements for 2017?

We are excited to create a new Website Committee where we can improve on interactive approaches to mentoring, training and education. In Celebration of our 20th Anniversary we will be raising the bar with some unique themes and events for Vision Expo's in 2017. We will also be announcing a special award to honor a unique individual who exemplifies our values and has significantly contributed to advancing the leadership capabilities of women over the years.

What is the OWA's plan to continue to grow the membership?

Value Add! There is no doubt that we do a great job of attracting members with key events at each of the expo's. In 2017, we want to enhance the experience to allow for more networking abilities. The value of our membership is to unite like minded talented women who can share successes, gain new friendships and encourage women to excel. In addition, we want to scale up our efforts to engage remote members to do the same. We recently launched our monthly Tuesday talks program which includes a 20 minute presentation by a professional thought leader with a 10 minute Q & A session. The first one was a great success and we have already scheduled speakers for the remainder of the year. We will also be piloting additional programs like roundtable remote webinars and local membership gatherings.
