At this year's OWA Champagne Breakfast before International Vision Expo East at 7:30am on Thursday, April 14, we will be honoring Dr. Sue Downes and Ann Englert. We will also be raising our glasses to toast and thank Sherianne James, who will be the keynote speaker at the breakfast event. It's an honor to have such an accomplished woman in the optical industry help us all collectively honor Dr. Downes and Ms. Englert.
The OWA asked Ms. James to join us for a Q&A session at our special event because she successfully guides the brand positioning and marketing of one of the best-known optical lens brands. After joining Transitions Optical, Inc., in 2011, she was promoted multiple times until most recently, in 2014, when she took on the role of Vice President of Marketing. She currently helps set the marketing strategy for the photochromic division, and works to increase consumer demand for adaptive lenses. With an impressive professional background in developing and executing trade and retail marketing programs, maintaining business and research partner relationships, and implementing organizational marketing strategy, in addition to an educational background in chemical engineering and business management, Sherianne will be sure to inspire all attendees at the Champagne Breakfast.
The Q&A session, led by Christie Walker, will give everyone an opportunity to discuss challenges and successes and learn from each other. Sherianne is excited to share her story as a marketer and woman in the optical industry and discuss her non-traditional path from a research and development expert into the marketing field. She is passionate about the optical industry and the opportunities that we all have to lead and is certain that the audience participation at the breakfast event will spark many enjoyable conversations. James is honored to participate in the Q&A session at the Champagne Breakfast and is looking forward to meeting other women in our field who are affecting change and making a difference.
As with many of us, Sherianne has been inspired in her career by strong female role models and mentors. It will be fun for her — and for us — to share our experiences. So, come prepared to ask questions, learn, tell your story, and laugh.
This event is a really nice way to start the VEE trade show. We're all sure to walk away from the breakfast inspired and energized.
Cheers!
