All who know Ann E. Englert recognize she is a force to be reckoned with. From her contagious smile to her ability to ignite excitement in the hearts of men and women alike to serve the industry beyond their "employment," Englert has a proven track record of inspiring others to leadership. Her selection as the 2016 PYXIS honoree, therefore, is apropos in light of the distinguished roles she has held within the OWA since becoming an active member in 2001. The PYXIS honoree, like the constellation in the southern sky known as "The Compass," is recognized for helping guide the organization through leadership and example to others, and Englert personifies this honor.

"The OWA is grateful to have Ann as one its founding and loyal members," said Maureen Cavanagh, OWA board member and President, Vision Impact Institute. "Her passion and commitment to achieve the highest standards through committees, boards and most recently in her past presidency have exceeded expectations throughout the association."

Englert is the owner and sole proprietor of Solutions, a concierge style business dedicated to working with wholesalers, retailers and ECPs in the eyewear industry. Prior to launching her company in 2001, she held senior leadership positions at top optical and sunwear companies. Englert was also selected as one of VisionMonday's Most Influential Women in Optical in the Executive Suite (2013).

"I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition. Connecting with the OWA has presented the opportunity to collaborate with some of the industry's finest professionals who are dedicated to the OWA's mission," said Englert.

Since 2001, Englert has served on the OWA board and chaired multiple committees. As a result of her leadership as President, the group initiated a brand refresh, launched the expansion of the organization's website and social footprint, and collaborated with industry partners to maximize its programs. Together these initiatives resulted in membership growth and new benchmarks for value added benefits.

According to Englert, "Receiving the PYXIS award further fuels my drive and passion for amplifying the stated mission of the OWA by inviting members, our professional development sponsors, and the industry, to get connected, lead the way so that we can share in the rewards of a successful future by working together to advance the leadership role of women in the industry."

As a past president of the OWA, Englert remains committed to the OWA's mission of advancing the leadership role of women, and she continues to enthusiastically inspire industry professionals to share their time and talents.
