My friends call me: Megan

I am the: Sr. Vice President, Merchandising at National Vision

I joined the OWA in:2016

Words my colleagues use to describe me are:Curious, results-oriented, customer-centric, and dedicated to developing others

The career advice I would give my 18-year-old self is:Midway through my career, a wise mentor said to me:

When I think about my career, I'm most excited about:the fact that someone took a bet on me along the way, by approaching me to do a job I didn't think I was qualified to do. This one gesture pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and gave me the opportunity to learn so much more about the business overall. This one person, believing in me and taking a chance on me, propelled my career forward. My goal is to pay this back, by doing the same for others. I am also tremendously excited about landing with a company that is so closely aligned with my personal values. I am truly blessed.

Daily, I read:The top stories in the Wall Street Journal, Retail Dive, Vision Monday, and customer comments.

My theme song is:True Colors by Cyndi Lauper. It is all about the importance of being unique, true to yourself and unafraid in a difficult and crazy world

I recommend:Seeking out opportunities that push you outside of your comfort zone. I promise it will pay off. Identifying and tapping into a mentor; Having the guidance, encouragement and support of a trusted and experienced mentor can provide a mentee with a broad range of personal and professional benefits, which ultimately lead to improved performance in the workplace
