Food for Thought
Saturday, May 1, 2021
The world was in the midst of a pandemic. Our nation was facing cultural and social divides. 2020 was a year when many of us lived in fear of the unknown. Those events and uncertainties were the inspiration for OWA's new Food for Thought program — "where food breaks down barriers and brings us all to the table".
Want to learn more about OWA's fascinating membership? Our members are amazing, and we want you to get the inside scoop on what makes them so great. Meet OWA's most recent featured member — Nancy Gries. After learning about Nancy Gries, you can view past Member Spotlights here.
The purpose of the OWA's Leadership Scholarship Program is to provide a professional mentoring opportunity, reward those who have volunteered their time and efforts to help the OWA reach its goals, and to promote the founding principles of the organization: to connect, inspire, and lead future leaders.
You're invited to the next meeting of OWA Reads, another of your great membership benefits! Open to all OWA members, this virtual group "meets" quarterly on the last Thursday of the month for a fun discussion around a current book. Join in Thursday, June 24, at 7 pm CT, to talk about Amy Dix's book Seven More Days: Live a Life That's Bursting with Positivity and Happiness ... Before It's Too Late. BONUS: OWA members can receive a specially priced paperback copy of the book here.
Please login in order to RSVP.
All members receive their choice of a best-selling business book. The 2021 book selections are The White House Doctor by Dr. Connie Mariano, The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker, and Unleashed: The Unapologetic Leader's Guide to Empowering Everyone Around You by Frances Frei and Anne Morriss.
Take advantage of this free member benefit by selecting one of these titles. Book orders will be accepted through Sunday, August 22, 2021.
"Food for Thought . . . where food breaks down barriers and brings us all to the table!"
Food for Thought was created to facilitate dialogue with our neighbors and to embrace and highlight the diversity of our OWA members. Gathering together at the table promotes fellowship and provides a place of love and peace. If you have a recipe to feature in Food for Thought, send your submission to .
This month we "travel" to Greece, where Easter will be celebrated on May 2. You'll want to add this sweet treat to your own holiday feasts once you taste OWA President Robyn Crimmins' traditional family recipe for Koulourakia, aka Greek Easter cookies!
