Optical Women's Association president, Christie Walker, was in Dallas to visit the association's management office and host a Meet & Greet with local Dallas area members.
"It was great to see our association headquarters and spend time with our director, Dave Beebe, who keeps our organization running like a well-oiled machine," said Walker.
With an all-volunteer, working board, it's imperative to have support staff and a director who can take care of the day-to-day tasks of running an organization. Billing, dues collections, event organization, new member mailings, printing of posters and postcards, and so much more, is taken care of from the association office by the director.
"As a founding member, I was around in the days when the board had to do everything. From sending out postcards to designing and printing posters and brochures, to buying the food and schlepping it to the events, the board had to do everything. Today I can't imagine running the OWA and putting on the events that we do without Dave taking care of the day-to-day tasks and so much more. It was a real pleasure to be able to spend some relaxed time at the association and to be able to talk with Dave in a non-OWA event setting," said Walker.
