Nineteen women gathered in Dallas for lunch for an OWA Meet & Greet event. The hour and a half mid-day networking event was organized by OWA president Christie Walker to coincide with her visit to Dallas. Area members were invited to attend and to bring non-member guests to introduce them to the OWA. Walker explained the benefits of membership and then opened up discussions based around two questions: How can your business spread the word about the OWA, and what can the OWA do to help you do that? The event was a big success on many levels, including new members joining, great networking, and valuable feedback from the attendees.

"We had an excellent turn out. And it was so easy to pull this all together. I encourage other OWA members to consider organizing a Meet & Greet in their city," said Walker.

Here are the easy steps for putting together a Meet & Greet:

Contact at association headquarter and let him know you are interested in putting together a Meet & Greet in your area. Dave will sort our membership list and send you a list of members in your area.
Pick your date and time. Lunch time or after work.
Dave will send out a Save the Date, to gauge interest and get an estimated head count of who could attend.
Based on the estimated head count, find a venue.
Ask Dave to send out the Invite with the date, time, and location.
Dave will mail you brochures to hand out at the meeting.
Show up, make a few announcements, start the introductions rolling, and have a good time.
