March 2010 NewsletterWe're excited to present this edition of the newsletter on our new and improved OWA website. When you click the links in the newsletter to Read more and sign on, we hope you'll enjoy the fresh new look. It's been a labor of love for our Executive Director, Dave Beebe to manage this effort to deliver a vibrant and energized site. He's worked step by step with the OWA Board and webmaster to convert and merge technical capabilities to bring you an "easy on the eyes" read. We like to hear from you. Social Media 101 — An Overview For EyeCare ProfessionalsI was dragged kicking and screaming into Social Media. After getting involved, I realized how much time and energy it saves. So what are Social Media and Social Media Marketing? Should the eyecare professional get involved? Like it or not, this is how people communicate today. Getting started is not hard. Once you get the hang of it, it gets easier and easier, less time consuming and best of all, fun! President's LetterIn today's world, change happens at such a rapid pace, it's sometimes hard to keep up. We have lots of exciting changes at the OWA and I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight them for you. OWA Membership Committee — "You Are Here"As we pass our decadal anniversary as an organization, the time has come for us to review our evolution, assess our current position, and move forward for the next ten years. As our founders begin to hit their career pinnacles and we now have a handful of women as CEOs and Senior Management in our industry, it's time to assess the next generation of the organization and its members. Welcome New OWA MembersThe OWA membership is growing . . . and we are happy to welcome 48 new members since our recent POWW sponsored event at the ABO-NCLE conference in Cincinnati! The organization is flourishing because of members who are actively involved. We invite you — we encourage you — to be involved in your OWA!
